News in brief: Amex UK, CWT, RwandAir, Radius Travel, Egencia and more

American Express UK Business Platinum Card members can now earn 10,000 extra Membership Rewards points when they spend over £10,000 on their Card, every month. The increased rewards accompany a new travel credit and suite of benefits equating to the largest rewards package ever for Business Platinum Card members.

CWT‘s global hotel division RoomIt has been selected by Amazon to provide hotel category services support. The win sees CWT further expand its longstanding business travel partnership with Amazon, which also encompasses global air, rail, and meetings & events solutions.

RwandAir will launch direct flights between London Heathrow and Kigali from  November 6 2022. The new direct flights are priced from £661 return and will operate four times a week, an increase from the airline’s current indirect three-times-a-week service.

Radius Travel has expanded its ongoing relationship with ITL World across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to extend its customer service capabilities in the Middle East. Business travel in the Middle East is forecast to rise by 32% in 2022, according to a recent report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

Egencia has announced a multitude of new features that bolster its mobile app. The enhancements make booking, approving, and changing travel plans easier for travel managers and business travellers by personalising their user experience and giving them more control.

Sabre Corporation has renewed its multi-year distribution agreement with United Airlines. The long-term agreement ensures that Sabre-connected travel agents will have access to United’s content globally. United and Sabre will continue to collaborate to deliver NDC-enabled capabilities supporting the airline’s retailing vision.

Meon Valley Travel has appointed David Thomas as Sales Director. David joins Meon with a wealth of corporate TMC experience previously at CTM, Statesman, Portman Travel, and FCM, with 25 plus years’ experience in the industry. He will be spearheading business development for both corporate and worldwide emergency medical repatriation disciplines.

ACE Travel Management ATG UK has been announced as the winner for Best Travel Management Company at The European Mission Awards 2022. The TMC said the award recognises ACE for how it has excelled in the industry and left a positive impact on its team members and diverse client roster through the overall success of the business. 

Vueling has completed the second stage of the IATA IEnvA environmental certification, confirming the airline’s commitment to sustainability. IATA’s voluntary environmental assessment programme (IEnvA) is a system used to independently assess and improve the environmental performance of airlines. The certification confirms that Vueling has implemented a Sustainability Management System fully certified by this body and aligned with the ISO 14001 environmental management system.

UKHospitality has announced a new Sustainability Commitment programme to guide the industry towards a net zero target by 2040. The initiative includes 10 pledges in four key areas – waste, supply chain, skills and biodiversity. It forms part of a wider drive to help businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), make hospitality a leader in sustainability.
