The WTTC has welcomed the new ICAO framework for SAF production, which saw 100 states agree to a 5% carbon intensity reduction by 2030.
Following the announcement at the third Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels in Dubai, Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said: “This important agreement is critical to delivering ICAO’s Long Term Aspirational Goal of net zero carbon emission by 2050.
“This is not solely an aviation challenge. Governments, SAF producers, investors and all stakeholders need to collaborate to accelerate the development and adoption of SAF, to ensure a more sustainable and resilient sector.”
Earlier this year, WTTC released its report on SAF, calling on governments to take action to unlock the full potential of a global SAF market by focusing on urgently increasing production.
