Bmi Publishing is delighted to announce the appointment of Beverley Fearis as Editor of The Business Travel Magazine (TBTM) on August 1.
Beverley joins with 25 years’ experience in print and online media, specialising in travel and tourism.
For 14 years she has been Editor-in-Chief of Travelmole.com and a regular freelance contributor of news, features and comment for a number of newspapers and magazines, including The Business Travel Magazine, the Guardian, Observer, Financial Times, Times, Telegraph and Boundless.
Beverley began her career as the business travel and hotels reporter for travel trade magazine Travel Weekly before becoming Deputy Editor of Business Traveller and then Managing Editor of businesstraveller.com.
“It’s fantastic to be back in the world of business travel and I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and colleagues in the sector and to meeting some new faces,” she said.
“Although that might need to be virtually initially, I am confident it won’t be long before we’re all meeting face to face again.”
Beverley joins as the magazine’s latest readership survey results show a shift in focus towards corporates with larger travel spends.
Traditionally TBTM has had a strong readership among SMEs but research carried out in May and June showed that one in four readers of the magazine have a corporate travel spend of £100 million or more and 47% have a spend over £5 million.
“Armed with these new findings, and with an appreciation of the short and long-term implications of the pandemic on business travel, we have lots of ideas for new content and other initiatives to engage with our readers and to help them navigate their way through the challenges and opportunities of the new landscape. I can’t wait to get started,” she added.
Steve Hartridge, Editorial Director at BMI Publishing said: “We are delighted to welcome Beverley to the TBTM team. She is highly respected in both the business travel and leisure travel publishing sectors and will bring a wealth of experience and a high level of professionalism to the editor’s role.
“These are, of course, uncertain times for business travel but Beverley is the perfect choice to steer us through the challenges ahead and establish the magazine as the industry’s leading B2B publication.
“With those challenges comes exciting opportunities and with Beverley at the helm we are confident TBTM will be an even more essential companion for those in business travel than it has ever been. We can’t wait for her to start on August 1.”
