Mandarin Oriental opens second London hotel

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, a 50-room new-build property, will open its doors to guests next week (June 3).

Located on Hanover Square it has been designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, who were behind the Lloyd’s building and the ‘Cheesegrater’ in London and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.

The hotel will also offer 77 residences and the first UK restaurant from Colorado-based Michelin-starred chef Akila Back, whose all-day menu will feature modern twists on traditional Japanese and Korean dishes. Three private dining rooms will also be available.

Other facilities will include a rooftop bar offering crafted cocktails, fine wines, craft beers and views of London’s skyline.

An underground spa will offer bespoke wellness treatments, an indoor 25-metre heated swimming pool, sauna, vitality pools, ‘experience shower’, a steam room and a gym.

The property is the group’s second in London. The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, an Edwardian-style building that originally opened in 1908 as the Hyde Park Hotel, opened in 2000 after a full renovation.
