Sustainable luxury hotel brand 1 Hotels has confirmed the opening of its first European property, 1 Hotel Mayfair, this summer.
The nine-storey property on Berkeley Street, which comprises 181 bedrooms and suites, will feature the Dovetale restaurant headed up by two Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers.
1 Hotels is operated by SH Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital Group. It currently operates seven properties in the US, as well as in Hawaii, Toronto and China. Five further openings are in the pipeline across Europe, the US and Australia.
The London opening will continue the brand’s commitment to sustainability, with the property constructed using a host of recycled materials. Examples include reclaimed metal tiles, floor timber from fallen trees on the Windsor Estate, and walls built using old Yorkshire dry stone. Developers says efforts to retain and remodel much of the existing building have saved 4,200 tonnes of carbon emissions.
To further its environmental credentials, the hotel boasts large ‘green walls’ of plants, solar panels and planting beds with more than 200 different species in bedrooms and common areas. A large communal space open to the public has also been created.
In addition to the restaurant, F&B options include a daytime café and evening bar with central table, plus a signature destination cocktail lounge. The property will also feature a bespoke fitness centre and Bamford Wellness Spa with three treatment rooms.
Prices lead in at £700 per night.
