easyHotel reveals £2.8m eco refurb in Glasgow

Budget chain easyHotel has completed a £2.8 million eco-friendly refurbishment at its Glasgow City Centre hotel.

The refresh features a complete upgrade of the hotel’s energy system and a new low-carbon room design alongside refreshed communal areas.

All 125 bedrooms at Glasgow City now include sustainably-sourced timber and wallpaper made from recycled materials.

Gas boilers have been replaced by electric air source heat pumps and mechanical units have been upgraded to provide thermal benefits.

New installations are solar panels and energy efficient air condition systems.

easyHotel’s low-carbon upgrades are expected to drive down carbon emissions by 38%.

The refurbishment is part of a wider £6 million investment to reduce the hotel group’s overall CO2 emissions across its older hotels in the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain.

Karim Malak, CEO of easyHotel, said: “The completion of our Glasgow refurbishment demonstrates easyHotel’s commitment to offering low-carbon rooms that not only deliver exceptional value for our guests, but also meet the growing demand for more sustainable hotels.

“Besides the hotel looking fantastic, the savings made in carbon helps us in keeping our prices low as we focus on taking the lead in great-value, low-carbon hotels across Europe.”
