Wizz Air expands presence at Gatwick

Wizz Air will allocate a third Airbus A321XLR aircraft at London Gatwick from September 1 2026, further strengthening its presence in London.

The new aircraft will enable Wizz Air to increase frequency on its routes from London Gatwick to Valencia and Prague, offering daily flights to both cities from September.

It means Wizz Air now has six aircraft based at Gatwick, alongside 15 aircraft at London Luton, bringing its total UK-based fleet to 21 aircraft.

The Airbus A321XLR, the latest evolution of Airbus’ A320neo family, enables Wizz Air to operate longer routes more efficiently using a single-aisle aircraft.

Wizz Air will also increase the frequency of its daily flights to Jeddah. Serving the historic connection from London to Medina and Jeddah, the airline will offer nearly half a million seats in 2026 to the Land of the Two Holy Mosques.

Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK said: “The allocation of our third A321XLR is a clear signal of Wizz Air’s long-term commitment to the London market.

London is a city of diversity and our network is intentionally designed to reflect and serve that diversity. That’s why we are London’s low-cost airline. Adding this aircraft to our Gatwick base strengthens our ability to offer more direct routes to an even greater variety of destinations, including our unique long-range connections to Saudi Arabia.”
