United Airlines mobile app integrates new Apple feature

Bags not arrived after a flight? United Airlines passengers travelling with an AirTag or Find My network accessory can now share the accessory location via United’s app.

If a bag doesn’t arrive at its final destination customers can generate a Share Item Location link in the Find My app on their iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Once travellers have filed a delayed baggage report, United’s customer service agents can view its location on an interactive map.

Using Apple’s new Share Item Location feature means United customers will be reunited with lost bags quicker.

As soon as a passenger is reunited with a bag, the shared location is disabled and can be stopped by the customer at any time.

To use the new feature, iPhones must be running on iOS 18.2 or later and customers should have the most up to date United app installed.

Customers without the mobile app will receive a text notification with information about how to track lost luggage and can add a Share Item Location link for their AirTag or Find My network accessory.

David Kinzelman, United’s Chief Customer Officer, said: “Apple’s new Share Item Location feature will help customers travel with even more confidence, knowing they have another way to access to their bag’s precise location with AirTag or their Find My accessory.

“They can easily and securely share that with us in the United app and our team can use the location information to find the bag and get it reunited with its owner much more quickly.”
