From Glasgow to Winchester, the group expects to open 17 new hotels in the UK this year, which will be developed by third-party investors.
The Travelodge Plus ‘budget chic’ concept will be expanded to include a seventh property in Marlow-on-Thames, alongside existing city-centre hotels in Edinburgh, York, London and Brighton.
More SuperRooms will be added to the group’s existing hotels in Edinburgh, London, Marlow, Solihull and Winchester, including the first rooms to feature mini fridges.
Described as ‘premium economy’ – after the airline cabin between economy and business class – the room type caters to business travellers with Lavazza coffee machines, irons and an ironing board, USB charging points, plus a more comfortable desk and chair.
Travelodge’s Chief Executive, Peter Gowers, said: “Despite the uncertainty facing the UK, the long-term prospects for low-cost hotels remain strong. The next phase of our expansion plan will see us deliver more choice in more places than ever before.”
“We’ve come a long way from our early days by the side of the motorway and today’s Travelodge not only offers the same great value as always, but the extra choice of our new Travelodge Plus and SuperRoom concepts – ideal for those who want just that little bit more.”
