Switching from road and air travel to rail is one of the most effective ways organisations can reduce their Scope 3 emissions, but how do you persuade your travellers to make that modal shift?
This was the focus when travel buyers and rail experts came together for the latest Business Travel Lunch Forum at The Caledonian Club, Belgravia, London.
In an open and honest discussion, guests discussed ways to encourage travellers – and finance directors – to change track and recognise the wider benefits of rail travel, from productivity and ROI to wellbeing and duty of care.
Buyers heard about the latest initiatives designed to encourage more business travellers to take the train, including simplified fares, more granular carbon emissions data, centralised delay repay solutions, investment in onboard Wi-Fi and more.
The event was sponsored by South Western Rail, represented by Sales Manager Joe Thurgood, who was joined by Charlie Baikie, Head of Commercial Trainline, Marina Gray, Head of Retail Partnerships Rail Delivery Group, and Pippa Ganderton, Director ATPI Halo Sustainable Travel & Events Solutions.
