Study outlines the world’s safest cities for female business travellers

Bern has been crowned the safest city for female business travellers, according to a study from TMC Good Travel Management.

The capital of Switzerland received a normalised score of 9.04/10.

To calculate the full score, categories were ranked by pay gap parity, women’s safety, female workforce participation and proportion of well-received hotels, as well as average review scores of co-working spaces and taxi services.

Wellington achieved second place, with a score of 8.11, and was closely followed by Amsterdam at 7.86 and Stockholm with 7.63.

Next was Vienna (7.45), Berlin (7.36) and Madrid (7.33). Oslo (7.16), Paris (7.14) and Canberra (7.08) completed the top 10 line-up.

London came in at 6.62.

Laura Busby, Commercial Director at Good Travel Management, said: “Women’s safety is often an overlooked aspect of business travel, despite its critical importance as more women take on roles requiring frequent travel. Ensuring that female professionals feel secure and supported while on the move is not just a matter of wellbeing but also of enabling them to perform at their best.

“Partnering with a travel management company ensures trips are planned with safety and inclusivity at their core, offering invaluable support for female travellers and businesses alike. Organisations that prioritise safety and inclusivity not only protect their employees but also enhance their overall travel experience, paving the way for greater success and productivity.”
