Six new categories have been added for the 2022 Business Travel People Awards, carefully chosen to reflect key industry trends.
The awards, now in their 11th year, recognise outstanding individuals and teams across all aspects of corporate travel management whose professionalism and business excellence make them stand out from their peers.
Nominations for the 2022 awards opened on February 28 and will close at midnight on April 25.
The new categories are Travel Technology Innovator, Sustainability Champion, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion, Travel Buyer of the Year, and TMC of the Year.
For the first time, there will also be a Chair’s Award, a special award chosen by the chair of the Judging Panel, Leigh Cowlishaw, to recognise an individual or team that has demonstrated particular excellence in their category.
“In response to key industry trends, last year we introduced a number of new categories and for 2022 we have looked again the way corporate travel is developing and have made further changes,” said Cowlishaw, Managing Partner Black Box Partnerships.
“Tech innovation, sustainability, and DE&I are all high on the agenda for anyone involved in travel management so we wanted to recognise individuals and teams taking strides in those areas.
“In recognition of their achievements and their vital roles during these challenging times, this year we also wanted to introduce awards dedicated to travel buyers and to TMCs.
“People are our industry’s biggest asset and, for the third time, I am honoured to be the chair for these prestigious awards, which recognise the best of the best.”
The awards ceremony will take place on September 13 at the Leonardo Royal London City. More details of the event will be announced shortly.
Winners are chosen by an esteemed judging panel representing all sectors of the industry. Four new judges have joined the panel for 2022.
Sponsors already confirmed for this year’s awards include Agiito, Focus Travel Partnership, HotelHub and Sirius Talent Solutions.
