SilverDoor has reported a rise in demand for carbon emissions data from corporate travel and relocation clients.
Following the launch of its Carbon Calculator, the serviced apartment provider says users are planning to prioritise serviced accommodation that can deliver carbon emissions reporting.
Its sustainability tool now displays carbon emissions data for over 20,000 units across 27 countries worldwide.
SilverDoor has invested in the development of its reporting functionality to inform more sustainable accommodation bookings for corporate travel and relocation managers.
More details on renewable energy have also been added. Properties that use 100% renewable energy and/or generate less than 1kg of CO2E (Carbon Dioxide Equivalent) per night are highlighted to clients at the front end.
Property partners using renewable energy are required to upload their renewable energy certificate to evidence their credentials and the percentage of renewables they use.
Upcoming features in development include the ability to sort and filter by total emissions and set carbon budgets on search results.
Siân Ellis, Sustainable Procurement Lead for EY, said: “Unquestionably, we are prioritising carbon emissions and sustainability data as a core function of our wider travel programme and business operations planning and reporting.
“It’s now part of our goal to increase engagement with suppliers who are able to provide emissions data to support our own Scope 3 reporting.”
Alex Neale, Chief Supply Officer at SilverDoor, added: “Since launching the Carbon Calculator, it has undergone significant development, both from partners inputting data and growing demand and adoption from clients requesting to use it to inform current and future carbon travel budgets as part of their wider travel programmes.
“Data sets harvested from our property partners worldwide mean that we are able to not only provide clients with a more accurate overview of the carbon emissions of a stay, but also report in a meaningful and relevant way with bespoke reporting solutions.”
