What does it mean to you to win a 2024 Business Travel People Award?
After 33 years at Good Travel Management, it was an honour to be recognised for an established award. I started as a Travel Consultant at 17 years old and if my younger self could see where I was now, she’d be proud, happy and content.
How did you feel when your name was called?
I didn’t think I was going to win this, so when my name was announced I was shocked. When the team around me on the table started cheering, I realised that it was me they had called as the winner.
What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?
I messaged my family soon after I won the award. They were so thrilled and proud that I was coming home as a winner. The next few days were filled with messages on LinkedIn, Facebook and my personal phone from everyone congratulating me — friends, family, colleagues and even people I’ve never met.
How do you think winning the award will impact your profile in the wider industry?
The Business Travel People Awards are highly prestigious. I am showing those around me that, as a woman, you can have a family while balancing it with a successful career.
What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards?
Just do it. If it wasn’t for our marketing team and my Commercial Director, Laura Busby, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to put myself forward. Between them both, they’ve given me this opportunity.
Where will you be keeping your award?
The award is placed in our new sustainably-built office, Quarry House. We have a place for these awards in Good Travel Management now and this one is sitting proudly with the rest of them.
