PLAY airlines debuts flights to Wales

Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY airlines is set to launch a short programme of direct flights between Cardiff and Keflavík, Iceland, this autumn.

The service will offer two weekly flights from October 10 2024 for six weeks, which includes the half-term getaway.

Passengers can enjoy a free stopover in Iceland on its North American connections, including the US and Canada. 

Football fans will also find flights on October 11 and November 19 for the for Iceland v Wales and Wales v Iceland games respectively.

Operated by Airbus A320neos, there will be 20% fuel savings and CO2 reductions.

Lee Smith, Head of Business Development at Cardiff Wales Airport, said: “It’s really exciting that PLAY airlines has chosen to link Cardiff with its Icelandic hub, meaning passengers can now enjoy easy, low-cost connectivity between Wales, Iceland, the US and Canada.”
