What does it mean to you to win a 2023 Business Travel People Award?
It means so much to me. I can’t really comprehend it. It’s not just about that one moment in time. It’s about the entire journey, that’s why it means so much. It represents the last 17 years of my career, all the ups and downs, the sweat, blood and tears, and all the effort and energy that has got me to this point. I’m so grateful to be in a company surrounded by amazing people and to also work in an industry which recognises and rewards hard work. I genuinely feel overwhelmed and very privileged.
How did you feel when your name was called?
In that exact moment, I guess I felt a little robotic. I heard my name, I got up and collected the award, but it was too much for my little brain to process. I was in so much disbelief. Had I not seen the photo evidence, I probably would have believed it was all a big dream!
What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?
They were so happy and over the moon for me. They have been very supportive and very smiley.
How do you think winning the award will impact your role and profile within your business and the wider industry?
At TripStax we have a fantastic team who all work so hard. Winning this award is not just about me. I work for a business with a lot of energy and passion, and I funnel that into our creative flair. It’s a lot easier to achieve great things when you’re surrounded with positivity and support.
What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards in 2024?
Do it! What’s stopping you? You have nothing to lose. Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you’ll still be among the stars.
Where will you be keeping your award?
It has pride of place on my mantel piece, sat proudly opposite another achievement I’m very proud of: my framed competitor Fastnet race flag 2015, and Royal Ocean Racing Club sailing pennant.
