What does it mean to you to win a 2024 Business Travel People Award?
It mean that my move to a TMC was the right decision. I am very proud of the hard work and results I have achieved in my first year.
How did you feel when your name was called?
Shocked! Due to the length of time I have been in the business, I thought my chances of winning were low. I was not expecting my name to be called.
What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?
Pride, especially my dad. As soon as I was nominated, he knew I would win. Colleagues and friends were also very happy for me. I have received some lovely comments both in person and via social media.
How do you think winning the award will impact your profile in the wider industry?
After 20 years in the hotel industry, I was quite well known — having worked for several chain hotel companies. By winning this award, I feel my profile within the TMC sector will increase much quicker than without it.
What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards?
Do it. You always think it won’t be you… but why can’t it be? To be acknowledged by your peers and the pride you’ll feel will have you walking on clouds for weeks.
Where will you be keeping your award?
My award takes pride of place on my desk.
