News in brief: W Hotels, GBT and more

W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International, will launch its first hotel in Italy with the autumn opening of W Rome. The new hotel will be located on Via Liguria, next to the Spanish Steps in a historic palazzo. It will have 147 open-plan guestrooms and 15 suites.

American Express GBT has renewed its distribution agreement with British Airways and Iberia. GBT is set to take a leading role in implementing the airlines’ NDC capabilities through the GDSs, with the aim of achieving significant bookings of NDC fares throughout 2022. New NDC content is expected to be first available in Neo, GBT’s proprietary online booking and expense management platform, in early 2022.

Travelodge has appointed Claire Good as its new Chief Operating Officer. She has been serving as Chief Operating Officer of Travelodge on an interim basis since January 2021, holding direct management responsibility for the group’s operations across its hotels in the UK and Ireland. She will continue to report directly to Travelodge Group Chief Executive, Craig Bonnar.
