News briefs: Finnair, Aer Lingus, Center and more

Members of the Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club loyalty schemes will be able to link their accounts allowing the transfer of Avios. From May 22, customers will have the ability to transfer Avios by simply logging into either account and choosing the link option. The new initiative will also give customers increased opportunities to collect and use Avios, with access to both Finnair Plus awards and partners, but also to those of the British Airways Executive Club.

Aer Lingus has launched flights from Dublin to Las Vegas. Commencing on October 25, travellers can enjoy return flights from £569 three times per week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, up until April 29 2025. UK passengers can connect from Manchester, London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, through Aer Lingus’ Dublin Hub, where customers can enjoy US Immigration pre-clearance.

Center has appointed Amy Padgett as SVP, Travel Ecosystem. In her new role, Padgett will focus on growing Center’s travel ecosystem and developing its direct booking capture program. She will also be responsible for forming partnerships with travel management companies (TMCs) and suppliers. 

Traxo, Inc. has welcomed Rebecca Sheehan as SVP, Strategic Partnerships. In this newly-created role, Sheehan will spearhead the expansion of Traxo’s marketplace of travel service partners. She previously led strategic partnerships at Emburse, including the integration of Emburse’s acquisitions of Roadmap and TRIPBAM. Her prior experience includes senior roles at SAP Concur, TripIt, Hotwire and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

The second hotel by Miiro, Borneta, located in the district of El Born in Barcelona, will open its doors on August 1. Borneta features an open-kitchen restaurant, cocktail bar and a spacious terrace under the Fontseré arches. In addition, its rooftop terrace with an outdoor pool offers views of the rooftops of El Born and Barcelona’s Parc de la Ciutadella. Room rates will start from £260 per night, room only.

United Airlines has debuted a limited-edition Wrexham AFC amenity kit and pyjamas to celebrate the football team’s recent promotion to League One. Starting June 1, travellers flying in United’s premium cabins on long-haul international routes will receive the complimentary Wrexham AFC-inspired amenity kits filled with travel essentials including an eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste and Therabody skincare products. United Polaris customers on flights 14 hours or longer will also receive pyjamas designed to resemble the team’s kit.
