News in brief: Finnair, Qatar, GBTA WINiT and more

Finnair Plus loyalty members will now use Avios as their new currency. The enhanced spend-based programme offers additional upgrade benefits when reaching certain point limits within existing tiers, as well as an increased number of award seats. Passengers can also look forward to more ‘collect and use’ opportunities from late spring.

Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus have launched a new codeshare partnership. It will give travellers greater access to the UK and Ireland, including Dublin, London and Manchester. Once implemented, Qatar will have codeshare coverage with all IAG carriers, including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.

Pauline Hoston, Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at SilverDoor Apartments, has been appointed as Chair of the EMEA region for women-empowerment programme GBTA WINiT. She will join a group of industry leaders in a bid to set out a 2024 strategy in mid-March. 

Beyond Green has expanded its sustainable property portfolio with seven new members. Among the new additions are The Leela Palace Udaipur in India and Dromoland Castle Hotel in Ireland. The former is the first hotel in India to introduce eco-friendly boats, while the latter is dedicated to waste reduction. The properties offer “environmentally responsible experiences”.

Luxury hotel Address Glasgow has launched in Scotland. Located in the city centre on Renfield Street, the 95-bed venue offers an in-house cocktail eatery titled North, a fully-equipped gym and a new wellness suite with a Himalayan rock salt sauna and plunge pool. Part of The Address Collective, which is owned by Brian and Ciara McGettigan, the new site will join five hotels across Dublin, Cork and Sligo. Room rates at The Address Glasgow start from £159 per night.
