News briefs: Travelodge, FREE NOW, Situ and LNER

Travelodge has secured funding for a purpose-built hotel in Chiswick, next to Chiswick Roundabout and Chiswick Flyover. Scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2023, the hotel will have 113 bedrooms arranged over a ground floor and five upper floors. Travelodge currently operates 598 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain, including 79 hotels in London

Extended stay serviced accommodation specialists Situ has appointed Rebecca Gonzaga as Commercial Director to lead its commercial teams, working strategically but involved in the day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, improving processes and driving for commercial sustainability and growth. She previously worked in the global mobility industry for companies such as Cartus, Sterling and most recently SIRVA BGRS Worldwide.

Rail passengers travelling aboard London North Eastern Railway (LNER) services in the UK will be able to choose from a special festive menu from November 30 until January 4. The complimentary seasonal menu for passengers in First includes chicken and stuffing sandwiches, hog roast sausage rolls and stollen muffins with cranberry juice, apple and cinnamon tea, Baileys Irish Cream and Masons Gin, distilled in North Yorkshire. The Standard menu, part of Let’s Eat at Your Seat service, includes special seasonal sandwiches, Lottie Shaws mince pies, Meatless Farm vegan sausage rolls, Cadbury’s Snowballs and Negroni Spritz.

FREE NOW for Business has launched a Mobility Budget solution to help UK companies reward employees to attract and retain top talent. Companies can give their employees an individual Mobility Budget to spend as they choose, either daily, weekly or monthly, on their preferred way of travelling around the city, including black cabs, private hire vehicles and micro-mobility options such as eBikes or eScooters – and pay for their trips from the mobility budget allocated via the app.
