SIXT UK has opened a new branch at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4. Open seven days a week from 7am to 11pm, the site will allow passengers to skip the shuttle bus and step straight into a premium vehicle upon landing. Travellers can opt for luxury sedans, spacious SUVs or eco-friendly options. The branch joins the SIXT’s existing sites at Terminals 2 and 5.
Aspire Executive Lounges has opened a co-branded airport lounge at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The 180-seat OP Lounge by Aspire, which is located in the Schengen area near gate 22, is a collaboration with OP Financial Group. The new lounge offers private meeting rooms, as well as breakfast and seasonal lunch dishes. It will be accessible to OP cardholders with a Gold or Platinum product. The space will shortly be available to status customers of contracted airlines that do not operate their own lounges at the airport.
LNER is planning to triple its daily direct connections between Bradford and London King’s Cross from May 2025. The move will see seven services operating in each direction from Monday to Saturday. There will be an additional five southbound services from May 19 2025. Sunday services are expected to double from one to two in each direction, with further enhancements planned in December. Tickets are due to go on sale next month.
Peter Andrews has been named Director of Programmes and Chief of Staff at World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (the Alliance). In his new role, he will lead the development and implementation of the Alliance’s programmes – such as the Net Positive Pathway, High Ambition Movers and Accelerators – towards achieving Net Positive Hospitality, as well as strategic planning with the CEO. Andrews has previously worked at Consumers International and the British Retail Consortium.
The Green Key label has been awarded to 37 Adagio-managed properties, plus 10 franchised or master-franchised sites. In addition, 20 new applications are planned for 2025, with the goal of them all being labelled by 2026. Adagio aims to label all of its directly managed sites by 2028 and is encouraging franchised sites to join the initiative. The Green Key label focuses on sustainable resource management; waste management; promotion of sustainable consumption; energy efficiency and emission reduction; employee training and stakeholder awareness and local engagement and solidarity.
