BCD Travel has announced a series of planned leadership changes, including the appointment of former FCM Global Managing Director Marcus Eklund as Global Chief Commercial Officer.
Eklund will join the travel management company on September 14, succeeding Mike Janssen, who will retire at the end of 2026. BCD has also confirmed that Craig Bailey, President of the Americas, will also retire on June 30 2027.
As part of the transition, Dave Mitchell, currently President of BCD Mid-Markets and GetGoing, will become President of the Americas, while Tanya Green, currently Senior Vice President, Americas Operations, will become President of BCD Mid-Markets from January 1 2027.
BCD said the changes form part of its long-term succession planning process and combine leadership continuity, internal talent development and strategic external expertise.
Stephan Baars, Global CEO of BCD, said: “These transitions reflect years of thoughtful succession planning and our commitment to building for the future. They reinforce our confidence in BCD’s strategy, our leadership bench and our ability to continue delivering exceptional value for clients, partners and travellers around the world.”
Janssen and Bailey will remain actively engaged throughout extended transition periods to ensure continuity for clients, partners and employees. Together, BCD said they have contributed nearly five decades of leadership to the company.
Eklund brings experience across sales, programme management, marketing and product strategy, as well as travel technology, digital platforms and AI-enabled innovation. His background includes senior leadership roles at FCM and Amadeus.
He said: “BCD has built one of the strongest client portfolios and cultures in the industry. With its open platform and AI-powered capabilities, BCD is uniquely positioned to shape the future of business travel. I look forward to strengthening customer partnerships and helping drive the next generation of growth, innovation and customer experience.”
Mitchell, who has nearly 40 years of travel industry experience spanning operations, supplier management, commercial leadership and business transformation, has led BCD’s Mid-Markets business through a period of growth and digital innovation.
He said: “The Americas region has incredible talent, strong customer relationships and significant momentum. My focus will be on building on that foundation, accelerating innovation and helping clients navigate an increasingly complex travel environment while continuing to deliver on the promises that define the BCD experience.”
Green has led operational, customer and transformation initiatives across BCD, including major customer deployments, contact centre transformation and AI-focused innovation programmes. She will oversee BCD’s Mid-Markets business, including Acendas, Adelman Travel Group and World Travel Service.
“The North American mid-market sector is dynamic, innovative and full of opportunity,” she said.
“My focus will be on helping clients navigate change with confidence while continuing to bring together exceptional service, innovative technology and deep expertise to support their success. I’m excited to build on the strong foundation already in place and work alongside our talented teams to drive continued growth.” cdtravel.com
