Leanne Fowler, TMC Above and Beyond 

Coming together for a greater purpose was the driving force behind winning the TMC Above and Beyond Award, says Agiito Director of Account Management, Leanne Fowler

What does it mean to you to win a 2023 Business Travel People Award? 

I have grown up working in business travel. To be recognised for going ‘above and beyond’ in my day job and voluntary roles and supporting the next generation of travel professionals and leaders means a great deal — especially as these awards are about the people.

How did you feel when your name was called?

Surprised. We had several Agiito winners on the evening, so it was unexpected but equally wonderful to celebrate a hat-trick on the table.

What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?

From clinks of glasses on the evening to supportive messages and comments (internal and external), it really highlights the community we have in this industry.

How do you think winning the award will impact your role and profile within your business and the wider industry?

I hope it inspires others to volunteer, be generous with their time and support the wonderful people in our industry. When I collected the award and looked back on the last 12-18 months — aside from many late nights — collaboration was instrumental to shaping ideas and making them a reality. It was the people in my network who came together for a greater purpose of something bigger for the industry.

What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards in 2024?

Whether you’re entering an individual or a team award, the natural first step is which award aligns most closely to you or your team and what you have achieved. Read the winner comments from the judges and start to compile examples and evidence early. Having everything at your fingertips helps those writing the submission articulate your ‘above and beyond’ effectively.

Where will you be keeping your award?

I work from home when I am not travelling or seeing customers, so it has pride of place on my desk.
