ISON Travel on expansion drive

UK travel management company ISON Travel has acquired Excellence based in the US.

ISON Travel said the move is part of a growth strategy that will also see the TMC expand in Europe in the “short-term future”.

Founded by Helen Cannon, the company has grown significantly in the last few years and also has operations in the Middle east, India and the Philippines.

Cannon said this latest acquisition will grow its presence in the US and “will also give us an even stronger proposition for prospect customers who are looking for a service in both the UK and US”.

“Likewise Global Excellence has a number of customers who will benefit from our UK presence,” she added.

Both companies cover both corporate and luxury leisure travel, and ISON Travel also handles marine travel, giving an expansion opportunity to Global Excellence.

Global Excellence co-Founders Diane Plante and Patti Pillay will remain actively involved in the business.

ISON and Global Excellence were introduced by a mutual acquaintance who knew Cannon was looking for a company with the same culture.

Global Excellence was looking to sell its business but was looking for a buyer who would “continue their legacy with the longstanding and highly valued customers they have”.

Established in 1994, Global Excellence is based in Providence, Rhode Island, has a turnover of around $11m and employs 11 people.

ISON Travel reported turnover of £40m in 2023 and employs 100 people in offices in the UK, Dubai, India and the Philippines.
