The business travel industry on the edge of a huge change because of the impending impact of sustainability, the role of travel in dispersed workforces, employee engagement and talent acquisition, and the potential power of AI.
This was the observation shared by Paul Tilstone, founder of temoji, based on the initial findings of an initiative called ‘The Hundred’, where the consultancy group is collecting insights from 100 industry supplier leaders.
“It’s clear from the deep insights from the interviews that we are standing on the edge of huge change. I know we have often talked like that, but it feels so palpable now,” Tilstone told delegates at this week’s GBTA VDR Conference in Copenhagen.
“When we asked the executives what the best thing about our industry was, so, so many said networks, relationships and the events we have that drive them,” he said.
“I think we take it for granted, those of us who have always been in this sector, that it’s the same in every sector. Well, it isn’t, and it’s these relationships that will help us through the next stage of our industry’s development.”
Tilstone noted the need for “new travel management thinking, for the facilitation of innovation and more open engagement and discussion than ever before”.
The final results of The Hundred research will be shared in February.
