The UK Government has placed India on its international travel red list due to fears about a new variant of Covid-19.
Travel restrictions will kick in from 04:00 BST this Friday (April 23).
It means British or Irish passport holders or people with UK residence rights who arrive into the UK from India will have to go into a Government-approved hotel to quarantine for 10 days.
International visitors who have travelled from or have visited India in the last 10 days will be refused entry.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson had earlier cancelled a visit to Delhi next week due to the concerns over the new variant.
Bangladesh, Kenya, Pakistan and Philippines were added to the red list earlier this month.
