CWT rolls-out price tracking technology

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has partnered with Yapta to roll-out price tracking technology following a successful trial that delivered savings of up to 2% total travel spend.

The technology continually monitors prices for flights and hotel rooms, comparing them against existing bookings.

When the software detects a potential saving, CWT cancels and re-books for less, providing customers with the best possible deals and making significant savings.

“This technology can save our clients up to 2% – that’s a huge sum of money for any company with a sizeable travel programme,” says Patrice Simon, CWT’s CTO, Strategy and New Product Development.

“Best of all, it’s largely automated, running in the background 24/7, delivering savings every single day.”

The service came about as a result of CWT's partnership with airfare and hotel price-tracking service provider, Yapta.

CWT conducted initial trials in the U.S. and with success found the scope for savings across the rest of the world to be even greater, given the fragmentation of offerings across the Latam, Europe and APAC regions.

Currently, CWT counsellors manually rebook around 1 in 20 itineraries with the same flight or hotel at a lower rate. A fully automated process helps improve the rate.

CWT is targeting thousands of clients around the world over the next 18 months in rolling out the technology globally.
