Penta Hotel, Warrington
THE HOTEL: The Penta Warrington is a 103-bedroom hotel situated on Birchwood Park, near Warrington, close to the M6 and M62 motorway interchange and 20 miles from the centre of both Manchester and Liverpool.
THE CHECK-IN: The reception area is situated in the ‘pentalounge’, the centrepiece of the hotel. Along with the reception the lounge consists of a restaurant, bar, meeting spot and chill-out area. My details were checked and I was given my key card and directed to the lift.
THE ROOM: My room was tastefully furnished and had everything you’d need for a night away – comfortable bed, free on demand TV with premium sports and movies channels, the obligatory hairdryer and a selection of fancy toiletries. Décor was modern, largely in black, grey and white, with a touch of bright pink.
THE FACILITIES: The hotel has two meeting rooms, one catering for 40 attendees and the other for 24. The pentalounge is the hub of the hotel with a billiard table, game consoles, music, 24-hour bar and what the group claims is “the best steak ‘n´ burger and cocktail combos in town”. There is complimentary wifi throughout the hotel plus a gym and ample car parking. The lead-in DDR for meetings is £35.
THE VERDICT: The Penta Warrington is a very trendy property conveniently situated by the Northwest’s main motorway networks, offering easy access to both Manchester and Liverpool. While the room was basically furnished, it was very comfortable. The pentalounge is a really buzzing place and the food, especially the steak, was exceptional.
