Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport

THE HOTEL: Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport lives up to its name and is conveniently located just to the airport's northern edge. A Hotel Hoppa bus service offers transfers to all five terminals, and there is also on-site parking (£12 for 24 hours). The hotel, which was rebranded last December, is perfectly located for overnight stays before early departures.

THE CHECK-IN: I arrived at the hotel in the evening directly from central London via the Underground and the local free hotel bus service. The bright and open-plan reception area was clean and welcoming. Staff were helpful and provided hotel information in a concise manner. Check-in was quick and I was offered a wake-up call.

THE ROOM: stayed in a View Room with a king-size bed and views of the airport runway. The room was of a higher standard than I had expected, and was comfortable with plenty of space to relax. The main bedroom had a large HD TV, desk, seating and a wardrobe. Free high-speed wifi was available in the room, which was sufficient for email and streaming content to personal devices. The roomy bathroom had a bath and shower, two sinks and the usual toiletries were provided.

THE FACILITIES: The hotel reception opens on to the bar area, which serves coffee, juices, beer, wine and cocktails. The Gallery Cafe offers a full breakfast buffet and dinner. There is additionally a 24/7 Gallery Market serving snacks, sandwiches and drinks. Room service is available from The Gallery and the food is excellent. Free wifi and remote printing is available throughout the entire property and public computers are also available for use round the clock. There are eight flexible meeting spaces available for small to medium-sized events. Additional facilities and services include a 24-hour gym and an odds and ends menu of items for guests to buy, borrow or use for free in some cases.

THE VERDICT: TThe hotel's close proximity to Heathrow is a definite bonus for business travellers, and there are excellent public transport connections to and from the property. The staff were friendly and highly knowledgable, ensuring a friendly and comfortable stay..
