Hyatt Hotels Corporation plans to add more than 1,000 rooms in the UK by the end of 2026, representing a 30% expansion.
The hotel giant says business travel is helping fuel the expansion. It recorded a 5% year-on-year increase in business travel in the final quarter of 2024 compared to 2023.
Hyatt currently operates 17 hotels across nine brands in the UK, which behind Germany and Spain is the hotel group’s third-largest market in the Europe, Asia and Middle-East (EAME) region.
Openings in the next two years will include the 87-room Hyatt Place London Paddington, which will become the UK capital’s third Hyatt Place property, and the Hyatt Regency London Olympia. With more than 200 bedrooms, the Olympia property repurposes a listed, Art Deco building.
Earlier this month the dual-branded Hyatt Place Leeds, with 217 keys, and 88-key Hyatt House Leeds were opened.
The World of Hyatt loyalty programme’s 54 million global members can now choose from more than 1,000 participating boutique and luxury properties.
Anna Corkill, Regional Vice President of Development for the UK and Ireland at Hyatt, commented: “The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of brands in locations that matter most to our guests, members, customers and owners, and I have no doubt the UK will continue to be a strong contributor to Hyatt’s growth journey in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.”
