Grand Hyatt opens urban hotel in Spain

Grand Hyatt has opened a 465-room urban hotel in Barcelona.

The Grand Hyatt Barcelona is situated in the Alta Barcelona area. It is the fifth Grand Hyatt hotel operating in Europe.

Complete with an Art Deco design, the property includes 49 signature suites and one penthouse.

There are 22 meeting rooms over 35,000 sq ft and a dedicated event space, which is 9,300 sq ft designed for hosting conferences and large-scale events.

Guests can find Peruvian dishes at Maymanta, Mediterranean palettes at Sofia Bar & Tapas and steak at Leña, a restaurant slated to open later this year. Boutique coffee shop Philosophia offers pastries, fruit and salads.

The Oasis Spa by Natura Bissé features a 807 sq ft pool and waterfall, a Turkish steam area, sauna and private treatment cabins complete with hot tubs.

Javier Águila, Group President of EAME at Hyatt, said: “As the second Grand Hyatt property in Spain, today’s opening reflects our accelerated brand growth in Spain and more broadly in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.”

John O’ Driscoll, Global Co-Head of Real Estate at AXA IM Alts, added: “The successful opening of the Grand Hyatt Barcelona follows a tailor-made refurbishment and rebrand of the hotel since we acquired this property last year.

“The hotel has undergone significant improvements to enhance decarbonisation by phasing out fossil fuels as the primary source of energy and has achieved a LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency.”
