Good Travel Management launches new division

Hull-based Good Travel Management (GTM) has launched a new division to expand into the exhibitions, events and trade missions market.

Called GT Events, the new division will build upon the services already provided to corporate clients in this market and follows the recruitment of two exhibitions and events specialists.

Both join from Baxter Hoare Travel, which ceased trading in March.

Ian Cutts joins as Events Manager having worked within the travel sector for over 23 years.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing together my skills alongside my commercial and supplier relationships to build a new programme as the global events and exhibitions sector starts to rebuild,” he said.

“We start with Medica in Dusseldorf in November 21 and then will be launching our full listing for 2022 shortly.”

Darren Wilkins will join the team in September as Senior Events Consultant and will link in with the existing GTM team, which offers a range of business group services to trade organisations as well as individuals.

GTM Managing Director Kevin Harrison said: “We’ve worked in this area for many years however the expertise and connections that Ian and Darren possess will help us to take a major step forward at a time when larger events have been sorely missed from the business scene due to Covid.

“We are already working on several exhibitions for late 21 and 2022 and the appetite is certainly there. Whilst virtual exhibitions and events where able to bridge a gap during Covid, they do not replace the value and benefit you gain from face-to-face relationship building, learning and experience.”

Harrison said the TMC is also looking to recruit in other specialist areas as its continues to developing GTM more widely, including SME corporate travel and Marine and Offshore.

“We are very much open to opportunities and our strong financial backing, as part of the family-owned John Good Group, has enabled us to keep the business relatively intact and is helping us emerge strongly from the pandemic, so we are looking forward with optimism,” he told The Business Travel Magazine.

The new events programme will be launching shortly on the GTM website under the banner of GT Events.
