Global Airlines has acquired a new Airbus A380 aircraft.
The new transatlantic carrier has acquired MSN 120, which was formerly operated by China Southern Airlines, from aircraft service provider Jet Midwest.
Global Airlines acquired its first A380 from Doric Aviation last year, with the MSN 006 aircraft’s first routes expected to start in spring. The move was followed by the acquisition of three further aircraft, including the MSN 120.
The latter aircraft was prioritised for offering the quickest route to operation.
Since its last flight on December 22 2022, MSN 120 has been maintained by expert teams at Mojave Airport in California.
Now titled 9H-GLOBAL, the aircraft will fly under Maltese registration. It is expected to leave California in the next few weeks, with services commencing later this year.
Plans for the three remaining aircraft will be announced in due course.
James Asquith, CEO and Founder of Global Airlines, said: “Over the past year, we, with support from partners, have been putting the building blocks in place to take full ownership of the aircraft and plan its first flight. The fact that after such a rigorous inspection from BCA (Business Class Aviation) and Hi Fly, the aircraft was found to be in such good condition is testament not only to our unwavering commitment to safety, but to the engineering excellence of Airbus.
“I must also thank Jet Midwest for all their help and assistance this past year, and hopefully we will be able to work with them on identifying and acquiring more A380s and developing our fleet.”
