The GBTA European Conference, due to take place in Berlin on December 6-8, has been postponed in light of the tightening of Covid restrictions.
Organisers of the event, which is held in partnership with VDR, said the decision was due to “the new and dynamic developments around the omicron variant, and newly-instated travel and meeting restrictions”.
Instead, the conference is being rescheduled for late February/early March, although the exact date has not yet been confirmed.
“In a matter of days, the world has seen the rise of the Omicron variant as a new factor on the pandemic landscape, which is why public health, resilience and agility must be our new norm in the business travel,” said a spokeswoman.
“While disappointing, the safety and health of all those involved in our events is our number one priority. We hope to confirm exact dates shortly.”
Hundreds of people in the industry, from across Europe and the US, were due to attend the event, which had already been rescheduled from earlier this year.
