Freenow rolls out taxi and minicab service in Luton

Freenow has announced the launch of its taxi and minicab service in Luton, UK.

The mobility super app aims to give residents and visitors in Luton “a safe, reliable, convenient and cost-effective way to move around.” They can now use the Freenow app to book a cab while tracking the fare and time of arrival.

New riders can also book co-branded Luton Town Football Club/Freenow cabs with a 50% discount. The discount is redeemable by adding the code “LUTON LAUNCH” in the app.

The service launch follows Freenow’s recent sponsorship announcement with Luton Town Football Club. It has become the team’s first official shirt sleeve sponsor and official mobility partner.

The app is currently available across 150 cities in Europe, including London, Manchester and Edinburgh. Users can access e-scooters and e-bikes, too.

Mariusz Zabrocki, UK General Manager at Freenow UK, said: “Following our partnership with Luton Town Football Club, we are delighted to launch our Freenow service in Luton, where we will have 700 taxis and minicabs ready to be booked to start with.

“This expansion will allow us to support residents and visitors, particularly fans of Luton Town FC and other football clubs, to move around in an effortless and convenient way while supporting local cab drivers by giving them access to more jobs and other unique advantages, such as support with EV transition, that they can access by using our app.”

John H, a Freenow taxi driver, added: “I’m delighted that Luton taxi drivers are able to use the Freenow app in the area. The service is easy to use and gives drivers access to a huge customer base from the UK and Europe, increasing the chance to get more jobs, particularly important now that Luton Town is in the Premier League and many football fans will be travelling into town.”
