What does it mean to you to win a 2024 Business Travel People Award?
I’m absolutely delighted to have been awarded the People Manager of the Year Award at the 2024 Business Travel People Awards. It was an honour to even be nominated for this award on behalf of my team. Taking home the award on the night was one of the proudest moments in my career. It was made even more special to be attending the awards at De Vere’s very own Grand Connaught Rooms. Seeing the team in action to deliver a fantastic event really made me feel proud to represent De Vere.
How did you feel when your name was called?
The anticipation leading up to the award made me feel so nervous. It’s something that I had never even considered winning. After the shock of hearing my name wore off, I felt a mixture of excitement combined with a huge sense of pride.
What was the reaction of your family, friends and colleagues when you won the award?
The support from my team has been more than I could ever ask for. Since winning the awards, my friends, family and colleagues of past and present have been overwhelmingly kind. It’s also fantastic to see colleagues and peers that I haven’t yet had a chance to meet in the industry also showing their support.
How do you think winning the award will impact your profile in the wider industry?
The Business Travel People Awards was a great event to attend and hear all the excellent achievements and testimonials of others within the industry. I have gained some great contacts from attending the event and look forward to connecting with them in the coming weeks, particularly to explore ways in which we can work together on initiatives within our roles.
The recognition from winning the award has been outstanding and I believe that it will help to establish my position in the travel and hospitality industry even further.
What advice would you give to anyone considering entering the awards?
Absolutely go for it! The Business Travel People Awards provides a great platform to showcase achievements within the industry and network with leading brands and stakeholders.
Where will you be keeping your award?
My award will be going straight on my window sill next to my desk, which I’ll see every day at work. It will remind me of the fantastic evening and act as a nice motivator to keep on performing.
