Finnair is expanding its long-haul flight schedule from its Helsinki hub to America and Asia in the summer of 2025.
The airline is preparing to increase its Heathrow to Helsinki route from four to six times per day from October 27 and the new long-haul services are timed to allow for easy connections from London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
The airline will have its largest ever US schedule from Helsinki in 2025 and flights to Asia will be at their highest levels since 2019.
From March 30 2025 Finnair will increase the frequency of flights from Helsinki to Osaka to daily, up from five flights a week in 2024. Osaka will host the World Expo 2025 from April 13 to October 13.
The airline’s newest long-haul route, to Nagoya, was reintroduced in the summer of 2024 and will see additional flights in 2025. Services will double from twice per week to four times weekly.
Finnair is also preparing to operate daily flights to both Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita airports in the summer of 2025, providing a choice of 25 weekly flights between Europe and Japan.
Flights to China are also set to increase, with Finnair’s Helsinki to Shanghai service gaining an additional weekly flight, to four times a week.
Meanwhile, two-thirds of Finnair’s North American destinations will receive additional flights in 2025.
Direct flights to Dallas have risen in popularity since the route’s launch in 2022. Next summer Finnair will offer up to 11 weekly flights to the Texan city, with a choice of double daily flights each Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The route between Helsinki and Los Angeles will receive two additional flights a week in summer, making a total of five. So too will Helsinki-Chicago, making it a daily service, while Helsinki-Seattle will have five flights a week in the summer of 2025.
Anssi Partanen, Market Director Europe for Finnair, said: “Our customers have always valued our seamless connections to Asia, so to be expanding our presence in both China and Japan – including on our newest route to Nagoya – shows the continued trust in Finnair as a leading long-haul carrier. And with the World Expo set to be held in Japan next year, we know these extra flights will prove more popular than ever.
“But we are equally excited to be expanding across the Atlantic, boasting our largest ever schedule between Helsinki and the US, which shows our commitment to connecting customers between Europe, Asia and the US.”
