
The additional service will commence on July 1 and also be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration.
“We are increasing capacity to London Stansted to meet steady demand from both leisure and business travellers to and from the region, as well as international student traffic to Cambridge,” says Hubert Frach, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West.
Ken O’Toole, CEO of London Stansted, adds: “The announcement that Emirates is to double the capacity on its Dubai service is fantastic news for passengers and is a vote of confidence in both London Stansted Airport and the East of England.”
Emirates says passengers will be able to connect in less than 2.5 hours in Dubai to onward services to the likes of Brisbane, Melbourne, Singapore, Colombo, Bangalore and Bangkok.
From July 1, the first daily flight from Dubai to London Stansted will operate as EK65, departing Dubai at 09.00 and arriving in London Stansted at 13.30. The return flight, EK66, will depart London Stansted at 15.00 and arrive in Dubai at 01.05 the following day.
The second daily flight from Dubai to London Stansted will operate as EK67, departing Dubai at 14.15 and arriving in London Stansted at 18.45. The return flight, EK68, will depart London Stansted at 21.10 and arrive in Dubai at 07.10 the following day.
This summer Emirates will operate 140 flights a week to/from the UK: six daily from Heathrow, three daily from Gatwick and Manchester, two daily from Birmingham, Glasgow and Stansted, and daily services from Newcastle and Edinburgh.
