easyJet opens Southend base

London Southend Airport has become easyJet’s tenth UK base. The airline will serve 20 routes from Southend.

The destinations in Europe and North Africa include Barcelona, Geneva and Paris.

Three easyJet A320neo aircraft will be based at Southend, operating 122 flights a week.

The airline withdrew from Southend in August 2020 because of the impact of the pandemic.

The base opening provides more than 330,000 easyJet seats during the 2025 summer season as well as direct employment for 140 pilots and cabin crew.

“With flights and thousands of package holidays now available to 20 destinations from London Southend, this will not only enable us to serve many more customers, providing value and more choice, but also supports critical connectivity and jobs for the UK, as we get set for our biggest ever summer,” said Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays.

The airport in Essex is approximately 36 miles from the centre of London.
