De Niro’s Nobu to add London hotel

Nobu Hospitality - the lifestyle brand created by acclaimed Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper - will open its second London property early next year.

The Nobu Hotel London Portman Square will be the ninth property in the group’s portfolio, and joins its sister hotel in Shoreditch, which opened in 2017.

Previously branded the Radisson Blu Portman Square, the revamped property will feature 239 rooms and suites, a reduction from its current 272, along with a Nobu restaurant, ballroom and meeting facilities.

The building is owned by London + Regional Hotels and the project will be its third collaboration with Nobu Hospitality, following on from a hotel in Ibiza Bay and Nobu restaurant in Monte Carlo.

Nobu Hospitality also operates two standalone Nobu restaurants in the capital, both in Mayfair: Nobu at the Como Metropolitan hotel in Old Park Lane and another on Berkeley Street.

The company has ambitious expansion plans – its Los Cabos hotel opened at the start of April and openings in both Barcelona and Chicago are slated for later this year.

Riyadh, Toronto, Sao Paulo, Atlanta, Tel Aviv and Warsaw properties are also in the pipeline.
