Dakota Hotels opens on Newcastle’s Quayside

Dakota Hotels has opened a 118-room property in Newcastle upon Tyne, the sixth in its UK portfolio. The luxury boutique hotel cost £36.5 million to develop and is at St Ann’s Wharf on the Quayside.

The hotel has seven different categories of rooms, including 62 Classic Doubles. All 33 suites offer river views, while the Deluxe Suite is the Dakota Newcastle’s premier offering.

“I think there’s a massive gap in the Newcastle market for a slice of luxury,” said Matt Townley, Group Operations Director at Dakota Hotels.

The hotel features a ground-floor restaurant, The Grill, and an adjacent bar. Uniquely in Newcastle, the Dakota has a cigar terrace.

The hotel has a range of meeting spaces for groups ranging from six to 60 people. The Private Dining Room accommodates up to eight guests, the Boardroom 10, the Champagne Room 20, the Library 30 and the Tyne Suite meeting room 60. Additionally, the Dakota’s Library Bar can be utilised for events.

Signature Suite

Mark Spanton is the General Manager of Dakota Newcastle, moving from the group’s hotel in Leeds. “With its stunning waterfront location and dynamic cultural scene, this city is the perfect setting for our signature brand of luxury hospitality,” commented Spanton.

Parking is available next to the hotel at St Ann’s Car Park and the city centre, including Newcastle Central Station, is a 20-minute walk from the Dakota Hotel.
