CWT has rolled out a new carbon footprint calculator for the meetings and events sector.
The technology, which is aimed at event planners and clients, takes into account the CO2 emissions of travel, hotel stays, meetings, waste management and even food and beverage consumption to calculate the impact of events from conception to completion.
Data can be set against each individual customer’s particular carbon benchmark, and the interface can highlight specific event elements where greener alternatives can be found.
“With nearly all of our M&E customers and prospects citing ambitious long-term corporate sustainability goals for their organisations – whether they run ongoing strategic meetings management programs or individual large-scale events – we are helping them realise their carbon-emissions reduction strategies,” said Ian Cummings, Global Head at CWT Meetings & Events.
The calculator is the latest tool developed by CWT in partnership with award-winning carbon intelligence platform, Thrust Carbon. The TMC has already launched similar calculators for flights, car hire and hotels. It has been road-tested over a six-month period for ease of use and accuracy, and can be easily integrated into customer systems using API connectivity.
