Concur Travel has become the first online booking tool to integrate emissions calculations which comply with the new ISO 14083 standard.
Through its partnership with Thrust Carbon, it now provides customers with accurate emissions data at the point of booking.
The ISO 14083 standard was created to address inconsistencies in the many emissions calculation methods, offering a globally-recognised framework for calculating greenhouse gas emissions across transportation modes, including air, rail, car and freight and aligning with incoming international emissions reporting standards.
By harmonising methodologies, ISO 14083 provides organisations with consistent and credible data to guide their regulatory efforts.
The standard aligns with climate initiatives such as the European Union’s (EU) Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which from 2025 requires emissions reporting by more than 50,000 companies.
For organisations navigating the complexities of CSRD compliance, Thrust Carbon’s consistent, multi-methodology approach to calculations ensures that the emissions data viewed at the time of booking matches data used within official reports. This alignment simplifies the reporting process and helps businesses make informed decisions relating to their sustainability strategies.
Kit Aspen, Founder of Thrust Carbon, commented: “ISO 14083 unites our industry under a single rigorous standard, which allows us to reduce uncertainty, increase consistency and focus on the push to net zero.”
Charlie Sultan, President of Concur Travel at SAP Concur, said: “At SAP Concur we understand that sustainability is no longer a ‘nice to have’ but rather a business imperative. By becoming the first online booking tool to integrate emissions calculations tied to the ISO 14083 standard, we’re empowering our customers with the accurate and consistent data needed to make informed decisions and for reporting.”
