BTA wishes new Transport Secretary ‘good luck’

Chartered accountant Anne-Marie Trevelyan has been appointed Transport Secretary.

The announcement came last night after the new Prime Minister Liz Truss sacked the former Transport Secretary Grant Shapps along with a number of other prominent supporters of her leadership rival Rishi Sunak.

Following her appointment, Trevelyan said: “Transport is crucial to our lives – bringing people together, creating jobs and connecting the UK with the world. Looking forward to getting to work on the many challenges and opportunities transport brings.”

BTA CEO Clive Wratten welcomed her on Twitter, saying: “Congratulations and good luck. The business travel sector is ready to engage and assist Britains transport sectors recover, grow and evolve sustainably whilst fuelling British businesses success globally and domestically.”
