Brighter reaches eco standard for meetings and events

Brighter Events has achieved the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable meetings and events.

The events team has undergone training across sustainable events, increased regulatory compliance and enhanced risk management.

Event managers are now tasked with regularly looking to counter any negative impacts from events on the environment, as well as improved reporting on sustainability outcomes.

Roles and responsibilities for staff, contractors and suppliers have been redefined to align with the new standard.

Marketing collateral has also been updated to include green symbols and compliance logos.

Paul Casement, Executive Director of Groups, Meetings and Events at Brighter Events, said: “We are seeing more and more of our clients wanting to really integrate sustainability into events. Tender processes increasingly want evidence of sustainability practices too.

“With this sustainability certification, clients old and new wanting to work with a responsible supplier can be confident that Brighter has the right skills and experience to deliver the event they desire.”

Julie Evans, Standards and Assurance Manager at parent company Clarity, added: “It’s been great to be able to use my events, ISO and sustainability experience to help achieve this important certification and support customers’ environmental targets and goals.

“The work towards this standard has influenced Brighter’s mindset to delivering even more memorable events which maximise performance and energy efficiency, while also minimising the impact on our environment and local communities.”
