Blacklane is teaming up with Saudi Arabia’s state-backed EV infrastructure provider to improve the charging network for vehicles in major cities across the kingdom.
The partnership is betweem EVIQ, the brand name of Saudi’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company, and Blacklane, the global chauffuer service provider.
The focus will be on boosting the number of fast charging charging stations and establishing dedicated charging hubs for fleets. Powering up vehiches is a painpoint in further expansion of EVs across the country.
Saudi Arabia also trails the United Arab Emirates in charging infrastructure, which has a third of the kingdom’s population. Blacklane is therefore looking to replicate its success in Dubai where the vast majority of its journeys are now in electric vehicles.
The aim is to integrate EVIQ’s public charging network into Blacklane’s operations across the country.
The chauffeur company is aligning its growth plans with Saudi’s significant ambitions in eMobility, which is part of the country’s Vision 2030.
The goal is for 30% of all vehicles in Riyadh to be electric by 2030. By the same date, EVIQ plans to have 5,000 fast chargers installed across 1,000 locations.
