Korean Air is introducing Premium Economy cabins as part of a raft of service enhancements and alongside the unveiling of a new corporate identity.
Premium Economy seating is being introduced in response to growing market demand. The airline will retrofit 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, removing First Class cabins to install Premium Economy cabins.
The first retrofitted aircraft will enter service in the second half of 2025 with a three-class configuration: Prestige (Business), Premium Economy and Economy.
Modifications will continue through 2026, expanding Premium Economy availability across routes.
From August 2025, there will also be phased expansion and renovation of Korean Air lounges at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.
New Prestige Class Garden Lounges will be built in the east and west wings to accommodate increased passenger traffic following the airport’s expansion and relocation of Asiana Airlines, which will operate as a subsidiary of Korean Air until being integrated on January 1, 2027.
The Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing will double in size and the Miler Club Lounge will also be expanded.
The First-Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing will be refurbished and reopen in April 2026. Once all upgrades are complete, Korean Air’s six lounges at Incheon will offer double the current seating capacity and 2.5 times the lounge space.
The airline will also renovate its lounges at major international hub airports. Those at Los Angeles and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport will undergo complete, city-themed redesigns.
Additionally, lounge information will be available in a new feature on the Korean Air mobile app.
