Amex GBT urges preparation for ETA rules

American Express GBT is urging travel managers to sign up for a webinar to hear more about the UK’s new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) rules coming into force in October.

Under these rules, visitors and transit passengers who do not currently need a visa for short stays in the UK will be required to obtain an ETA prior to travel.

Amex GBT is advising corporate customers, their travellers and industry partners to join the Home Office’s upcoming webinar at 2pm on September 28 to learn about the scheme.

Martin Ferguson, Head of Public Affairs, said: “We want to help raise awareness of the ETA entry scheme so travellers are prepared for upcoming changes to UK entry requirements.

“The ETA scheme means some international visitors who currently don’t need a visa will be required to complete a pre-registration entry form before travelling to the UK.

“ETA will first apply to Qatari nationals from November 15, 2023, followed by rollouts for Jordan and the remaining Gulf Co-operation Council States – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. There will be phased worldwide implementation in 2024.

“We are advising corporate customers, travellers and industry partners to be ready for these changes by learning about the scheme via the online government resources available – including signing up for a webinar hosted by the Home Office, taking place on September 28.”
