American Express Meetings and Events has launched a suite of sustainable meeting and events solutions to help customers measure and reduce their carbon footprint.
It is offering clients access to “highly-skilled teams” to help them assess their meetings programme and develop an end-to-end sustainability strategy, aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
This includes setting measurable objectives, implementing systems to plan sustainable meetings and events, and measuring and reporting on an event’s carbon impact.
Meanwhile, a Carbon Neutral Events solution helps organisations reduce, measure, and offset meetings and events emissions.
Clients can use GBT’s calculator to identify the carbon footprint of their event along with other sustainability metrics and then calculate the amount of offsetting measures needed to achieve carbon neutrality.
Amex GBT said the suite of solutions launches as in-person meetings are returning, with 81% of meetings and events professionals expecting events this year to have a face-to-face element and 83% emphasising the importance of embedding sustainability in meetings and events.

It’s the latest sustainability initiative from the TMC.
In the last 12 months, Amex GBT has formed an alliance with Shell Aviation to help increase the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), partnered with Cvent to lead an industry-wide program to embed corporate responsibility objectives in hotel sourcing, and unveiled its Green Compass capability, designed to enable corporates to decarbonise travel while continuing to benefit from business travel.
